New Delhi, Aug 24 (INB) The election commission claims to have received documents of 98.2 per cent voters in the controversial Bihar Special Intensive Revision exercise for the state’s electoral rolls, an official statement said on Sunday.
The statement from the Election Commission comes after the Supreme Court allowed left out voters to submit 11 documents as required for registration or Aadhaar.
“From 24 June to 24 August, 2025 i.e. in 60 days, 98.2 per cent persons have submitted their documents. This means an average of about 1.64 per cent per day. There are still 8 days to go till 1 September with just 1.8 per cent electors remaining for submission of the documents…just like collection of Enumeration forms, work related to collection of documents is also likely to be completed before time,” the commission said.
The Election Commissioner of India has faced huge criticism by opposition leaders who have alleged of it being completely biased towards the ruling government.
Apart from Aadhaar, the voters can submit any id card issued by the centre or the state, pension payment order issued to a regular employee or pensioner, id card issued by banks, post office, LIC, public sector units, birth certificate, passport, matriculation or other educational certificate, permanent residence certificate issue by any competent state authority, property document allocated by the government etc.
