International Politics: Trump, Modi strike chord again

New Delhi, Sep 6 (TNC) After a brief spell of stained relations US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister of India have struck the chord again with both appreciating the special bonds that two nations share.
The softening of the tone started between the two leaders started after Trump appreciated Modi for his leadership and personal bond between them.
“I always will, I will always be friends with Modi, he is a great Prime Minister, he is great… I just don’t like what he is doing at this particular moment, but India and the United States have a special relationship. Its nothing to worry about. We just have moments on occasion,” Trump said.
At the same time he expressed concern over India’s continued purchase of oil from Russia.
“I have been very disappointed as India would be buying so much oil, as you know, from Russia. I have put a very high tariff on India. 50 per cent tariff. I get along very well with Modi as you know. He was here a couple of months ago. We went to the Rose garden. The grass was so soaking wet. We had a news conference on the grass,” Trump said. Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties.
Modi reciprocated Trump in an amiable tone.
“India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership,” Modi said on social media platform X.
