Pralhad Joshi to attend 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ meeting in Bhubaneswar


New Delhi, Aug 7 (INB) Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi will participate in the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, where member nations will discuss cooperation in education, according to an official statement. The meeting, being held under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, will deliberate on key priorities including Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), skill development, research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications and academic leadership, the Ministry of Education said in the Statement. Ahead of the ministerial meeting, the Ministry hosted the 3rd BRICS Senior Education Officials’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar on August 5, bringing together senior officials and delegates from Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Iran, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates, it stated. The senior officials reviewed the draft BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, exchanged views on its provisions and worked towards building consensus on the key elements to be placed before the ministers for consideration and adoption. The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in ECCE, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), collaborative research and innovation, mutual recognition of qualifications, academic leadership, and the BRICS Guiding Principles on Traditional and Indigenous Knowledge Systems, it added. The participating delegations also emphasised the need to strengthen institutional mechanisms, promote academic and research partnerships, facilitate the exchange of best practices and enhance capacity-building initiatives among BRICS countries, it added. The ministry said the meeting concluded with the finalisation of the proposed outcomes of the BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, marking an important step in advancing the priorities of India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 and strengthening educational cooperation among member countries.
