UPTET 2026 sees nearly 88.8 pc attendance recorded, 44 impersonators caught using AI


Prayagraj, Jul 6(INB) Nearly 88.8 per cent of candidates appeared for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026, while 44 impersonators were detected with the help of AI-assisted monitoring system the three-day examination, officials said. According to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) statement on Saturday, the written examination for Primary (Classes 1-5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6-8) levels was conducted on July 2, 3 and 4 across the state. The Upper Primary examination, held on July 2 and in the first shift on July 3, recorded the participation of 10,57,055 candidates out of 12,11,459 registered, taking the attendance to 87.25 per cent. The Primary-level examination, conducted in the second shift on July 3 and the first shift on July 4, saw 7,13,659 candidates appear out of 7,83,202 registered, translating into an attendance of 91.12 per cent. The commission said 3,34,775 candidates appeared in the July 4 morning shift out of 3,79,316 registered candidates, registering an attendance of 88 per cent. Overall, 17,70,714 candidates appeared for the examination out of 19,94,661 registered candidates, resulting in an overall attendance of 88.77 per cent. Female candidates recorded an attendance of 87 per cent in the Upper Primary examination and 90.85 per cent in the Primary-level examination, the commission said. The examination was conducted at 955 centres across all 60 districts of Uttar Pradesh under the supervision of retired IAS and IPS officers appointed as observers. An AI Integrated Control Command Room monitored all examination centres through live CCTV surveillance. Using AI-based software for identity verification, authorities detected 44 impersonators across the three examination days, including 14 on July 2, 11 on July 3 and 19 on July 4. One candidate was also caught attempting to cheat using a mobile phone during the examination on July 3. The commission said all accused have been handed over to the local police for legal action. It added that the examination was conducted in a transparent, fair, secure and copying-free manner with the support of district administrations, police authorities, the STF and other agencies.
